Autism Services of Southwest Louisiana, Inc.
Autism Services of Southwest Louisiana is a non-profit agency founded by family members of adults with autism.
Adults living with autism need a safe, comfortable environmnet in which to live, with twenty four hour care. Since there were no homes specifically designed for persons with autism in Louisiana, family members organized Autism Services of Southwest Louisiana (ASSL) to provide such services. Autism Services of Southwest Louisiana was founded in 2003 and after a few years of hard work and generous volunteer hours and donations, ASSL's first home opened its doors in 2009. Autism Services of SWLA remains the first and only agency to provide homes in Louisiana that serve specifically adults with autism.
Our Homes....
Autism Services of Southwest Louisiana provides housing and support to adult individuals with autism. Creole and Louies Houses are the beginning of much to come for ASSL. Autism Services of Southwest Louisiana works in cooperation with Direct Care, Inc. to provide Personal Care Attendants twenty four hours daily to the adults living in its homes.
Staff that work in Autism Services of Southwest Louisiana's homes are trained beyond the annual training hours required by the state. ASSL staff attends client specific training and other job related topics training. ASSL homes and staff are closely supervised and evaluated for service appropriateness.
Autism Services of Southwest Louisiana's future plans are to expand the number of living environments and supportive services that are available to other adults with autism.
